Hi all...my Husband has been on 20mg of Lisinopril for 2+ years. His Doc bumped him up to 40mg 2 months ago due to a slight increase in his BP (135/90) he also put him on ''Zocor'' at this time. We took his BP to see how the increase was working and it is higher ??? his reading are ...... 154/87 ... 155/96 ... 170/99 .. 160/89 .... these were taken over a few days. What is going on??? could it be the Zocor?? Thanks for any thoughts ~ Teri

Thanks for your thoughts...l appreciate it so much :)
l do use an ''auto''BP cuff.l also have tested myself as well during the time w/my Hubby .l am almost always a perfect 120/80 and l continue to be ...so l think l can safely assume that the cuff is on the money.
My Hubby talked to his Doc yesterday ans he immediately took him off the Zocor and reduced his BP meds in half.
Of course he wants to see him this next week.l took his BP this morn and it was already down to 144/83 ... and hopefully going more down :)
Thanks so much for your suggestions ~ Teri

zocor is not known to cause high blood pressure. take your BP cuff to your doctor or to a pharmacy with a BP machine and compare the two. it could be that your BP cuff is not working right. if this is not the case, he needs to see his doctor again. that increase in blood pressure is not expected and not safe. his doctor should know about it.

l am assuming u r using an automatic BP cuff. When u take ur husbands BP make sure that he has been in the same position for a minimum of 5-10 minutes. If his BP continues to read high call ur Dr. When ur husband has his next Dr's. appointment bring ur BP machine with u & check it against a manual reading. Start weighing him every day also. Record his BP reading. heart rate & weight & bring this also with u when u go to ur Dr's. The BP machines u see in stores r not reliable because they r not well maintained & the cuff is only one size. l have hypertension & l only check my BP at night, when I've been sitting for a while & it is always normal., take care, Donna l forgot to say that Zocor has no effect on blood pressure, Hi Terri, l am glad ur husbands BP is lower, what was ur Drs. rational for decreasing his Lisinopril? Now l am confused & asking u the questions, take care, Donna
