Whenever l eat processed sugar (Gatorade, Jam, Ice Cream) l get this weird feeling in my chest, and slight heart Palpitations. Could l be sensitive to sugar?

I am going to the cardiologist in a week so do not tell me togo to the doc please.

l have never heard of that, but it is a possibility. You should get tested cuz you never know.

You are eating too much sugar-based foods. It has an effect on physical as well as psychological health (i.e., it can be a depressant emotionally and speed up your heart physically).

Drink water instead of Gatorade, limit the others.

Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT) is a pre-diabetic state of dysglycemia, that is associated with insulin resistance & increased risk of cardiovascular pathology. IGT may precede type 2 diabetes mellitus by many years. IGT is also a risk factor for mortality.

It can be defined as:

* 2-hour glucose levels of 140 to 199 mg per dL (7.8 to 11.0 mmol) on the 75-g oral glucose tolerance test. A patient is said to be under the condition of IGT when he/she has an intermediately raised glucose level after 2 hours, but less than would qualify for type 2 diabetes mellitus. The fasting glucose may be either normal or mildly elevated.

From 10 to 15 percent of adults in the United States have one of these conditions.

So ur condition most probably in not impaired glucose tolerance, which usually has no clinical manifestations or sometimes present with symptoms of diabetes (Increased appetite, increased water intake, increased amount & frequency of urination)

On the contrary, some people have insulin over-secretion in response to sugar intake which can cause decreased blood sugar (Hypoglycemia) & thus leads to sympathetic system stimulation including palpitations, sweating & others.

So this can be ur condition. Your doctor will need to run some tests for u to find out the correct diagnosis. Good luck anyway & keep us updated.
