l have severe depression.l have not gotten treatment.Heart disease also runs in my family. My mother had a heart attack at 42 years old.l am also pretty overweight, do not eat very healthy (not to mention battling eating disorders off and on for 4 years), and rarely exercise. My blood pressure is high as well.I am only 18 years old.Lately l feel with all my sadness and depression at it is worst, what are the odds of me having a heart attack? If so, is it soon?

No, shut up, do not tell me that l can change things now.l know there is a problem here.I am asking a simple question and want a simple answer.l do not want tips on how to change my lifestyle. This is merely your opinion given the information and history I've provided.l will change my lifestyle, exercise, eating habits, and may even get mental help. But hypothetically, if l don't, l wanna know my chances of a heart-related problem right now.

Given the profile that u describe, u r certainly at significantly higher risk of a heart attack than the average person, particularly given ur family history. The increased risk may well be in the region of 5x average, or more. but it is not really possible to quantify much more than that, particularly not knowing ur blood pressure.

It is probably quite unlikely u will suffer a heart attack before the age of 30, but there is still a small risk. Once again, l wo not punt on any figures here.

It is difficult to explain the link between depression & heart disease, but there is a definite link - those with major depression r at least 2x more likely to suffer from a heart attack! Some theorise that it is the chronic stress state of depression that leads to changes in blood vessels, probably mediated by hormones like cortisol (which is quite elevated in depression, & also causes hypertension).

Your chances of getting a heart attack are fairly high since in the profile you describe says that you are pretty overweight, dont eat very healthy, rarely exercise and your blood pressure is high too.
