My inlaw who is married had a mild stroke. Her husband out of town can not get to her will dr give info to son?

Yes, but first your inlaw will have to put the son is name on their HIPPA Form. (Privacy act form)

If son is closest ''next of kin'' the dr should but as the other responder mentioned, she will have to sign (or at least ''X'' a HIPAA form).

IF YOU (OR THE SON) HAVE ANY PROBLEMS getting through the red tape - speak to someone in the social services or care management area of the hospital. If they are not available - get in touch with the hospital chaplain - they handle this sort of situation all the time.
