What's the difference between a cardiologist and a cardiac surgeon

there is big difference. one does the surgery and other knows what is goin on with the screens and stuff. generally they do both but sometimes you can get once of each which is not too good sometimes. its depends on what you are oding l would get one that knows both and use that person and l would also have second opinon when you need to first and then react.

l think a cardiologist monitors the heart, much like a physician monitors health. l think a cardiac surgeon actually cuts people open to do heart procedures.

A cardiologist would diagnose what was wrong with your heart and a cardiac surgeon would correct it surgically.

So essentially, cardiologists diagnose & treat heart diseases, generally with medicine. If medicine is not an effective treatment, the cardiologist may refer the patient to a cardiovascular surgeon for treatment in the way of heart surgery.

Cardiac surgeon operates on diseases of the heart requiring surgery. Cardiologists treats them with medicines and if necessary, procedures like angioplasty and valvuloplasty. Both specialities are complimentary to each other. One cannot exist without the other.
