l am asking because l had a stress echocardiogram, last week.It came back negative, which is fine.My doctor is going to have me have a CT scan done, at the hospital, just to check this out.No one seems to think this is any cause for alarm.....just possibly a slight bulge, or something, in my aorta.l am trying not to freak out......but l am.
l am really scared.........my brother is a doctor, in another city, and he tried to reassure me that a mild, or slight aortic aneurysm, may not even be the case.l do not smoke, my blood pressure is now controlled, and l do not have a history of this in my family.My cholesterol hdl/ldl is fine.....so there is no real reason for me to expect the worst.But l do.....and l am having a CT scan in 2 days, at the hospital!!!How can l make myself feel less stressed, about this.

Picture an inner tube with a weak spot. If the doc says do not worry, then do not worry - but get him to explain why not.

An aneurysm is a weak spot in ur artery that looks like a little balloon popping out. If it is just a little bulge it could repair itself or the doctors will now just keep an eye on it. Aneurysms can be fatal if they rupture but if it is that mild they probably do not want to fix something that is not quite broke. After ur CT they may talk about something to do. l would not worry until that test comes back. Most people do have small little aneurysms all over that do not even affect them at all. If they r not worried about it l would not be either.

Your doctor will probably want to follow ur aortic aneurysm with by-annual or yearly CT scans to make sure it does not grow in size. When it gets to a certain measurable size, they will repair it with a stent. Make absolutely sure that ur schedule of CT scans does not fall through the cracks. My husband is aortic aneurysm did not change in size for three years of bi-annual tests & then on the last CT it had more than quadruped in size & at that point they got him right in to do the repair.

l am glad that your doctor discovered this condition while it is mild. l had an aortic aneurysm that was discovered at the last minute -- even so, things have turned out well. Keep tabs on it is definitely important, but do not let it worry you.
