l had an echocardiogram - showed a shadow, have to go for aTEE, either a tumor or an artifact they said, but could me nursing make that appear by chance ?

Artifacts can be caused by a myriad of factors, but more than likely, u nursing would not cause an artifact. Shadowing is a type of artifact that is typically caused by sound reflecting off of a dense structure, such as bone. Perhaps ur ribs r very close together & a clear view cannot be obtained. Also, if ur breasts r very large, it may lead to a technically difficult study, since sound propagates through tissue & attenuates (loses intensity) as it goes. A TEE is not a major procedure, & will show very clear pictures of ur heart. You will be sedated with verced & maybe fentanyl while a probe is inserted into ur esophagus, & briefly into ur stomach.
