l just got an ER bill for $780 for a simple visit to a so- called 'fast track ER' thats supposed to see less serious but urgent cases within 90 minutes ( but it took me about 2 and half hours there). l had no intervention done but only had a blood test and was given an initial dose of antibiotic.
l do not understand why that should come to this much. l have asked for an itemised bill and waiting to see how they billed me. Any thoughts on how l should proceed?

ER visits are the most expensive way to get medical care. That charge sounds normal.

If you have insurance, file it, otherwise you will have to just deal with it. Next time if you can, try using Urgent Care instead of the Emergency Room if you do not have insurance. That should cost you less, but there are some things they are not set up to do at some Urgent Care businesses. Good health to you.

Even urgent care can be expensive--Six stitches in my finger cost me over $600 at an urgent care facility not that long ago. Your family doctor is a much better value if you can wait to see him or her.
