My husband has been having an irregular heart beat and mems checked him out and his heart beats 80 beats a min. then jumps up to 130 and 140 beats a min. He has a doc appointment at 3:00 today.

Stop all caffeine; reduce the stress in your life; cut down on salt to lower your blood pressure; and do exactly as the doctor prescribes!

There may be a physical reason or it could be stress. Most likely it will not turn out to be anything which can not be controlled with meds. or lifestyle changes. Hope your Dr. is good and can get to the bottom of it quickly. There are a lot of meds. which can be used to fix heart problems.

He probably has a nerve around the sino-atrial node that need to be unpluged so to speak. If this is the case, this procedure is usually effective and relative safe. Your doctor will explain.

Has your husband is electrolytes been checked? Esp. potassuim, if too low may cause an increase in the heart rate. l am glad he is seeking medical help. Good Luck
