My doc asked me to get an ekg because the drug he wanted me to take had the risk of cardiac issues in patients.l originally thought l would be ok, but between this and an ''inferior ST elevation'' note (on the same readout) I am now quite concerned/nervous.I am a 28 yr old male with no prior history of heart attacks/strokes.

it means you need to follow up with your doctor and have your questions answered BEFORE you leave the office.

First of all, those machines that automatically interpret your EKG are not always right, so dont believe everything it says without talking to your Dr. If its bothering you, call the Dr is office

first degree AV block: ur heart gives off electrical signals to make the heart contract, the measurement from the SA node to the AV node should be measured by the PR interval wave normal is 0.12- 0.20 sec, if it is 0.20 or > (first degree AV block) in truth it is actually a delay instead of a block & it is taking the nodes longer to fire, there r several back up firing mechanisms in the heart but with each back up the heart rate drops. it is also known as first degree heart block. there r several ppl with this & if not too bad left untreated but with frequent follow up visits, if it continues to get worse
( second degree or third degree, third being really bad) a cardiologist may decide to implant a pacemaker.

A first degree block is not really of concern most of the time. Can just come on its own, or as a result from heart problems.

ST elevation can be a HUGE indication of currently having a heart attack but EKG machines are terrible at interpreting things for themselves, so a doctor really needs to be the one to read it. My guess is that it read it wrong about the ST elevation.
