I have heart palpitations and shortness of breath, what could be wrong

You might have asthma.. l had the same thing, and after testing they diagnosed me with asthma. just a thought

l have the same condition. My symtoms come & go. l have heart palpitations about once a month lasting 2 or 3 days on & off. About a year ago l went to the emergency room because l was really scared that something was wrong with my heart. The doctors tested me & said there was nothing to worry about. In all honesty. you need to see your doctor to make sure that everything is ok. Your doctor may want to run a few tests (Ex: stress test, EKG, echo cardiogram) just to make sure there is not anything serious going on. Hope you feel better soon.

You might have mitral valve prolapse..sometimes difficult to diagnose. At any rate, palpitations and shortness of breath (regardless of your age) are not something to ignore. Please have this checked out by a cardiologist. Probably nothing to worry about but you will feel better just knowing what it is. Best of luck.

l sounds like u may have Mitral Valve Prolapse (MVP). Your valve open & close to allow blood to flow throughout ur heart, if u have MVP ur valves do not close correctly or all the way which allows blood to flow backwards. It is very common in women. For some it is not a major problem & the symptoms may even eventually fade but for some it can be more extreme. Other symptoms include dizziness & syncope (fainting). l was diagnosed with MVP in 2001 & I've been on medication since 2002. The meds help a little ( l do not have as many episodes) but l also have bouts of A-Fib. If it get to more of a problem l would suggest seeing another doctor. They will have to put u on a heart monitor to accurately diagnose you.
