Okay, last year my dad passed away from a heart attack and since then I've gotten really bad anxiety attacks. They mostly stem from me thinking I am having a heart attack. l sometimes get these pains in my chest and it scares me a lot.

So, l went to the doctor (several times) to check my heart and get tests. They did blood work on me 3 seperate times (most of the times l went in, it was to the e.r. because l thought l was having a heart attack) I've had 4 EKG's, numerous chest x-rays, and an ultrasound of my heart. After my u/s my doctor told me l had a very minor case of MVP, and she made me think that is was really nothing to worry about. Anyways tonight, l started having these ''chest pains'' and l keep freaking out about it, l always think I am gonna die. l really do feel these pains, but if they did all those tests on me, they could not have missed something bad could they? And even if they did not miss anything, could my heart deteriorate in less than a year (the last check up l had was in November of 07) I am only 20 and l just had my daughter in March, so l still have about 10 more pounds to lose until I am at my pre-pregnancy weight. Could someone give me some advice

You would probably benefit from seeing someone for anxiety. All of your symptoms may very well be related to anxiety. Discuss this with your doctor. Between therapy and meds you maybe able to nip this in the bud. Good luck.

As a worker in a heart cath lab l always recommend that u never play around with chest pain. since u have had all the pains before & all these tests recently l would seriously doubt that u r having a heart attack. anxiety attacks like heart attacks can also cause chest pain, shortness of breath, & several of the same symptoms. however, if u r scared l would not hesitate to go get checked again. l doubt u r having heart troubles. l would recommend some anxiety meds & some counceling. u r probably grieving. everyone does it differently & this is the mechanism ur body is choosing. good luck & l hope everything works out for you.

Try taking some anxiety meds like Xanax to help u out. Also, try not to think about your heart or being worried about it. The more u think something is wrong the more bad u feel.

Your dad dying because of a heart attack probably had a big effect on you. What u r having sounds like panic attacks.
l would recommend taking Prozac for a while & seeing how that goes. l took them & they worked great!
The chest pains you're having r normal. l used to have severe panic attacks & my chest hurt & l thought l was going to die! Literally! l formed a fear of sleeping because l thought l would not wake up but l got over it when l started telling myself l was okay & l was not going to die.

You've also just had a daughter which is also a big challenge & is likely to increase the stress in ur life. You can get depressed, anxious, & have panic attacks.
Yet, panic attacks & anxiety r not harmful to ur body. Neither is depression, besides taking things in to ur own hands & hurting yourself.
You r 20 years old! u wo not be even close to worrying about heart attacks until you're 50s!
Just eat healthy, exercise & quit worrying!

You seem ok from a medical standpoint if u have been checked out thoroughly. (although l am not a doctor so l can not really comment on this)

l had a stroke which was pretty scary & afterwards l had these ''flashbacks'' where l literally felt the symptoms of a stroke. l know that l was not having more strokes, but the symptoms seemed just as real as when l really had a stroke. l am sure u r very scared of having a heart attack, & sometimes that can manifest in phantom symptoms.

l learned to ignore, or at least not get too worked up about my ''flashbacks'' but if this does not work for you, u may want to talk to a therapist, or at least to ur doctor. If u do this & stay up on ur health u should be fine.
