l have been taking Paxil for about 3 years now.It works great for me.The only thing that has been happening for about the last month is that l feel something l can best describe as ''electrical pulses'' in my head.Does anyone else taking Paxil have this problem? Is it something to worry about?

Most people experience that only with withdrawal.

Thanks for the info about Paxil. Have been taking it for several months with no problems so far. My understanding of the pharmacology is that it is only to be used temporarily for short periods of time. Three years seems too long. My doctor said he would only have me use it for 5 months.

You say it works great for you. Could you say what you feel it does for you?

After a while tolerance to the drug can develop, this is known as 'poop-out'; when this occurs people can start to experience withdrawal symptoms while still taking their usual daily dose.

Brain zaps r a listed withdrawal symptom.

Other possibilities might include: there has been a switch to the generic version of the drug over this time period & that there has been a % difference in the active ingredient between the two versions (a certain % variability can occur) with ur body reacting to a reduced actual amount of Paxil, even though the tablets r listed as the same mg value, producing the brain zap withdrawal symptoms; perhaps there have been some inadvertent missed doses, which have introduced some withdrawal symptoms.

Something to discuss with ur doctor?
