l just found out my mom has a calcium deposit in her shoulder cuff. It looks really swollen and she sais it really hurts her. l wanted to know how do you make the swelling go down? , and how long does the calcium deposit take to entirely leave your body?

The calcium deposit is only indirectly causing the swelling - the tissue irritation & the body is inflammatory response is the actual culprit here by reacting to the irritation caused by the calcium deposit. Her doctor would likely recommend a non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (motrin/ibuprofen) or possibly a course of steroids. Typically the inflammation happens acutely & then recurs intermittently or after unusual or strenuous use. Most of the time calcifications r there to stay, but the body could hypothetically absorb them over time. This would vary depending on the size, but would take a while because the joint spaces do not get great blood flow. Best of luck to you
