l do not really understand why my blood pressure is the way it is...l usually get a reading of around 140/70.Obviously, my systolic is higher than normal, and my diastolic is a lower than normal. Why is this?If someone has high bp, do not they usually have a number like 140/90 or something?A good bp is 120/80 and yet I am higher on the systolic, lower on the diastolic. What does this mean?

l believe systolic is the measured pressure when ur heart is contracting to pump the blood, & diastolic is the measure of the pressure when ur heart is at rest. Of course all this happens in split seconds but thats basically what the blood pressure means. So if ur systolic is higher than normal then ur heart is using more pressure to contract. You dont necessarily need to have both above average in order to have high blood pressure. One or the other will do. Hope this helps u understand it a little better.

Logically you are right about the proportions that it should be something like 140/90.But it is not true during winter season.Due to vaso constriction in winters,in this example, the b.p. is likely to be something like 140/70.It is not a cause for worry.During summers you will be happy and satisfied on this account.

This can occur if you are anxious as well.
