My fiance worked for over 30 yeras and for the last year has been unable to work. She has no medical insurance, nor any money or job due to her illness. She has had 3 fusions in her back and we think she may have snapped one of those fussions in her neck. She is in extreme pain and we just paid over 750.00 for an MRl which we will find out soon what her actual diagnosis is but she surely will be unable to work anymore. What are the steps we need to take to start her to get whatever is due to her from SSI, permaneent disablility (although she did not get hurt on her job) and anything else she may be entitled to if in fact it comes back that she cannot work anymore. She worked for 12 years in Nj and 18 years in Arizona.

Please help if you have any knowledge or guidance as to where l can take the next or should l say initial steps as l am sure whatever the medical proceures and or surgeries are going to be astronomical?

l realize hospitals have to treat the ill regardless of their financial staus in Nj but we are loking long term as an income to live and pay regualr bills

This has nothing whatsoever to do with Heart Disease but drive her to your local Social Security Administration office and apply for Disability Insurance. l am not at all certain she is eligible for SS l but you can go to the SSA website and check on all benefit eligiblity. Oh, and if you have insurance coverage, call customer service and find out what you need to do to get her covered by your policy.
