Whenever l sit down to take my blood pressure its normaly high like 150/90 sometimes its even higher then l wait a min and its lower then l wait a min and its lower until it reaches somewhere around 130/77 then it bounces back and forth between 130-120/77-80

Now l heard you are supposed to wait 5 mins in between but by that time l get nervous again and it says its high.( My heart starts racing and l get sweaty sometimes l start to have a tiny panic attack the it says its high and l get even more nervous)

So my question is if l take it about a minute after the the previous one will it give me a false lower reading b/c my veins are contracted from the last one?

Someone told me it should be the opposite of my theory where b/c the veins are constricted the bp should be higher and l am just getting calmer when l take it.

PS l have very bad anxiety thats why im asking this thanks.

Accurate blood pressure should be measured:

1. After resting five minutes.
2. Sitting with ur back upright in chair
3. Feet flat on the floor
4. Arm resting on flat surface at the level of the heart.
5. Correct size of arm cuff appropriately aligned over the brachial artery.

Do u have a manual or automatic cuff? (It is very difficult to measure a manual pressure on oneself.)

Either way, any variations in any of the conditions above can alter ur numbers. Anxiety will alter ur numbers. Your blood pressure wo not be any different with veins compressed or not because the cuff is measuring aterial pressure. You can always measure one arm then the other side if u do not want to wait.

Try to meet conditions above & if u r still above 135/85 at home or 140/90 measured in the Dr. is office u should discuss medications.

Anxiety alone can cause high blood pressure.
it can go up quit quickly.

my guess would be that your high blood pressure is from that.

the lower blood pressures are just in between the anxiety
