Im 25, and for the last 25 years l eat like any other college kid. Ordering pizzas and did not get a whole lot of exercise. Now ive decided to totally change the way l eat, Ive been eating organic everything and only the good stuff like fruits and vegetables. Ive been hitting the gym regularly, but Im worry ed about all the damage l did to my body in my past and all the plaque that is built up on my heart. Will the damage to my heart and body be permanent?

nope just keep it up, and it can actually reverse itself as you are young, so dont sweat it, just sweat at the gym!!!! God Bless!!!

You should buy Dr. Dean Ornish ''Eat More Weigh Less'' l am certain that he has written other books. He believes that u can reverse heart disease through diet & exercises. You have already started that by changing ur diet & exercising which is great. Why do not u go to ur family Dr. & get ur lipid profile done as a baseline & just take it from there. Who knows. maybe u will have a high HDL (good fat)The human body is quite remarkable in it is ability to heal itself, take care, keep up the good work ! Donna

The secret is low triglycerides & high HDL. You can obtain both by eating a low carb diet. Stick with the organic or whole foods diet. Avoid trans fats (look for hydrogenated oils) but not saturated fats. The Ornish diet is low fat & calls for much self sacrifice, & is doomed to fail. A low carb diet will keep u feeling full & rev up ur metabolism, control ur insulin release. Cod liver oil would be the first supplement that l would add, as it raises HDL. High HDL will help reverse any damage.
