Hope someone can help here, Im a 35 year old woman, with 2 kids and a fairly stressful life. Recently ive been to the docs for varying reasons and my blood pressure has pressured 136/103 and then yesterday 157/106.
My doc didnt really go into any detail but said to keep an eye on it but isnt that a bit high for someone of my age? and how can l lower this?
i am the person in my profile picture and as you can see im not overweight, and l do eat well, lots of fruit and veg, l dont exercise anymore than housework,my job and of course my 2 kids (both under 4 years old!), so l am active, which is why im confused by the readings? http://new.facebook.com/profile.php?id=685101277for those who cant see the pic on here

Try to cut back on stress, which is hard to do, but let the house go for a while, just relax, whatever needs to be done will still be there tomorrow. And cut back on sodium, you should only be getting around 2300mg a day, but you must have 500mg a day to stay healthy.

Hi. The readings are a bit on the high side. However some peoples blood pressure goes up just because they are worried about visiting the doctors. If you are overweight try to lose a little. Cut down on the saturated fats in your diet. If you can try to get a little time just for you to relax in. If your doctor isnt worried then you shouldnt be either. Hope all goes well for you

Your Systolic blood pressure (157) is just on the high side but not too bad .. it is more your Diastolic (103) that needs to be watched . and the fact that it was a little upish at the Doctors could be explained as ''White Coat Hypertension'' .that is went you get a little stressed about having to go to th Doctors (hence White Coat) . you'd be best to buy or perhaps hire a Home Blood Pressure monitor and do regular checks at home

A Normal blood pressure reading is seen to be the healthy reading for individuals over 18 years of age not suffering from any known medical conditions. Typically, a healthy blood pressure reading is seen as being less than 80 mmHg diastolic & less than 120mmHg systolic. This level may however vary according to age, stress levels & general day to day activities. ie 120/80
l am surprised that ur doctor does not consider ur is to be high. Have a look at the link below for guidance.

You BP may be slightly high but not unusual, have a look at this link, it may explain things more clearly.

All previous are valid and weight is a very important factor with high BP. Also try to exercise more, a walk of a couple of miles daily will bring it down. Make sure you get it monitored every six months as a minimum.

Your blood pressure sounds moderately high and it sounds like maybe you are now checking it yourself. If you are try checking it first thing in the morning before you do anything energetic or stressful.around 120/80 would be good. My own blood pressure went up to 199/120 and the doc gave me a pill to take regularly. It is now fairly stable at 115/65but sometimes drops to 90/50 when l can feel very light headed-so l just skip the pill for a day or so.

One should never pay too much attention to just one or even two BP readings, for a more accurate analysis, BP should be measured over a period of time (sometimes that means having a BP monitor fitted over night to record ur BP periodically) 157 is hypertensive, if ur hypertension is life style induced (high fat/salt diet, smoking, little exercise, stress etc) then cutting down/stopping these bad habits r measures u can take to help with ur BP. if ur BP continues at this reading or rises u will need medication. You diastole (bottom reading) should ideally not be above 80.

Try to keep 140/90 Body mass index should be 20 for female & 25 for male maximum BMI= Weight in kilogram/ (Height in Meter)2
Suppose weight is 100 KG & Height is 2 Meter than BMI=100/(2) 2 =25 This is acceptable for male but for femal has to reduce weight up to 80 KGS
How to remain fit & healthy? Morning before taking any thing drink warm water 4-6 glass as per body requirement. Keep ur stomach half filled Keep ur weigh as per u height Maintain hemoglobin level as ur doctor says Do exercise or walking 30-60 minutes Do yoga ,Pranayam in place of exercise if possible

Both readings r significantly elevated & in the treatment range. However ur GP is quite correct not to react quickly & slap u on lifelong medication, yet.
Guidelines suggest that mild to moderate blood pressure should be watched for anything up to 6 months before resorting to drug treatment.
In the meantime it would be a good idea to ensure that u r close to ur ideal weight, take regular vigorous exercise, reduce ur salt intake & ensure only a low intake of alcohol.

You may safely ignore 95% of the tosh written above, because the simple figures alone (that u quote) r all but meaningless. Only CHANGES in ur BP readings r true.
Mine, for instance, 5 minutes ago, were 195/107. That is about typical for me.
Have yours changed? If they have, & have risen to these levels & r continuing to rise, then certainly there is something amiss. But remember, high BP figures (of themselves) r NOT the thing that is wrong. Rather, they're a symptom of something being wrong, & it is the brain is correct response mechanism which raises the pressures to compensate. Simply taking medication to lower the pressure wo not be solving the problem, will it? So that is what u should be looking at.
Buy a cheap monitor, & begin compiling a daily record of ur BP is at (say 11 a.m. & 11 p.m) & plot them on a piece of paper to show ur doctor on ur next visit.
If ur figure simply stay the same, -or begin dropping, then u need have no worries,

Yes, the 103-106 is too high, especially for your age. Need to be under 90. Are you over weight, do you exercise? Get rid of the stress. Take a powerful ''liquid'' vitamin / mineral supplement like VEMMA. Go to TrySomeVemma.com Cut way back on salt, sugar, coffee, white bread, and dairy products from diet. Drink lots of water. EXERCISE !!
